Building the St Ayles Skiff Tribute

The Whithorn Trust

The St Ayles Skiff Tribute’s build is documented in a short film covering the training project, which is supported by The National Lottery. We used timelapse to capture the build and filmed the team’s experiences to learn more about the process.

Hear from the client:

“The Whithorn Trust has worked with Urbancroft Films on projects since 2013, ranging from a community consultation and mapping exercise to an award-winning ‘Dig TV’ project for young people documenting a live excavation and an oral history project interviewing people from an underrepresented area of our town. They have also produced marketing materials for the Whithorn Way, using drone footage to fly through the long-distance walking route and its monuments and our digital ticket.

As a small charity, we often work to tight budgets and deadlines dictated by our funding, but Urbancroft has always delivered on time and has been flexible about matching activities to our budgets. Alongside film delivery, Urbancroft have also connected us with partners in other digital media, like VR content creation, which is new to us and where we needed expert advice. Our projects have varied from one-day filming events to embedded work within hard-to-reach communities. Our experience has always been excellent across the range of projects and scales. We’re always going back to Urbancroft, whether that is just with ideas which take shape as a result of discussion or with a fully formed and funded project.”
