Dandelion Launch

Dandelion

Dandelion is a national project from 2022, encouraging Scotland to sow, grow, and share together. The project aimed to re-establish harvest in the calendar and bring together sustainability, creativity, and community with events held across the country.

For this event, Urbancroft Films was tasked with a large-scale, complex production developed in partnership with internationally renowned Director, Producer, and Curator Angus Farquhar from Aproxima Arts.

This clip is from the launch video, which follows Dandelion’s Cubes of Perpetual Light – or mini vertical farms – around Scotland to promote gathering and growing. The project included construction of an electric bike, which was taken to both rural and urban locations, transporting the growing cubes. It also incorporated both ground and aerial filming and the chartering a boat to take the crew to uninhabited island, Heisgeir, where we filmed with crofter and composer Pàdruig Morrison on his ancestral land. The final film featured CGI animation to help to bring these cubes to life.

The launch video not only explains the aim of the programme, but it captures the sense of community and coming together that was central to the Dandelion project. On top of this, we created a number of other film assets for not only the launch event itself, but capturing the harvest festivals and celebrations that culminated the project.
