In Scotland, a piece of land worked by a small team in order to be self-sustainable
Urbancroft Films was founded by Martyn Robertson in 2007.
Since then, our company has created hundreds of films with businesses and organisations across the UK and beyond, producing content crafted with care and grounded in brilliant creative and exceptional production values.
We support people to tell their own stories on camera, helping to create films that are authentic and memorable.
We’re not stuffy, overly corporate or full of jargon – we’re relaxed with a sense of humour but professional when it matters.
We know our stuff when it comes to film. If you’re looking for a refreshing, enthusiastic approach to video, let’s talk.

Martyn is a BAFTA-winning Director/Producer who trained at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music & Drama and has won numerous awards over his 20 year career.
Since founding the company back in 2007, he has directed hundreds of corporate and promotional films with Urbancroft Films. His work has been screened in festivals and by broadcasters including BBC Scotland, STV, Apple, and Amazon Prime.
Martyn works directly with all our clients, leading the creative direction for Urbancroft Films projects.
COMPANY PRODUCER
Louise trained at Royal Scottish Academy of Music & Drama and has worked as a Producer for Urbancroft Films for the last nine years. She has 13 years of experience in arts project management. Prior to joining Urbancroft Films, Louise was Head of Learning for the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. Louise is also a registered Arts Award advisor.
Louise is the main, daily point of contact, managing and coordinating the overall production process.
SENIOR PRODUCTION TECHNICIAN
Jamie was the first non-American to be invited to join the camera team at Sundance Directors Lab, where we had the opportunity to work with directors such as Robert Redford, Michael Goldenberg and Tim Blake Nelson. He has since worked as Director of Photography with a number of broadcasters and independent production companies and now as a core member of the Urbancroft Films team, Jamie has been central to our productions in the last ten years.
Jamie works as our in-house Director of Photography and leads on all the technical requirements for our productions.
MARKETING AND DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANT
A Psychology and Digital Media graduate of the University of Glasgow, Sophie has been working with Urbancroft Films for over a year. She was selected as a 2025 delegate for The Network at the Edinburgh TV Festival and has since worked on productions with Martyn and the team.
Sophie supports projects as a Development Researcher, helping shape ideas and bring stories to life, while also managing the company’s marketing initiatives.
The building is Scotland’s independent film production centre and boasts a wide range of facilities for film production.
After a three phase, £3.5 million redevelopment and occupation of the beautiful, beaux arts Govan Town Hall, Film City Glasgow established itself as the heart and soul of Scotland’s film and television industry. Arrange to come and have a coffee with us and we’ll show you around!
Film City Glasgow is located next to Pacific Quay – the heart of Scotland’s broadcasting, media, digital and creative industries quarter – on the banks of the River Clyde in Glasgow.
The facility comprises of over 12,000 sq. ft. of production office space, a 5,000 sq. ft. studio/and build space, workshop areas, rehearsal/meeting rooms, café, and 10,000 sq. ft. of creative business offices, now home to over 25 permanent tenants from the screen and wider creative industries.
Govan Town Hall was designed by architects Thomson and Sandilands in 1887 and completed in 1899 at a cost of £60,000. The elaborate Beaux-Arts design of the building was inspired by Sandiland’s training in Paris. The success of the local shipbuilding industry is celebrated through the design. Above the main entrance is the Govan Burgh Arms, a ship flanked by two shipyard workers with the motto Nihil Sine Labore, nothing without work!
Comprising of a collective of experienced award-winning producers, directors, filmmakers and composers we unearth real stories to share with audiences worldwide.
Recent films have featured as the Closing Gala of Glasgow Film Festival, alongside premieres at the BFI London Film Festival and the GREAT 8 Showcase at Cannes.
